Herkimer diamond
Herkimer diamonds are double-terminated quartz crystals discovered within exposed outcrops of dolomite in and around Herkimer County in New York.

While double terminated quartz crystals can be found in other parts of the world, only those from this area can authentically be called Herkimer Diamonds.

There are imitations out there, so it pays to be aware of what to look for.

Inclusions such as solids, liquids (salt water or petroleum) or gases, can help to point to the authenticity of a Herkimer diamond. 

A semi-precious gem, the "diamond" in its name references the clarity and well-formed faces of this crystal. They are renowned for their exceptional clarity and brilliance.
